Hello everybody, I am back with a second update to the pumpkin. In my last post about the pumpkin, I had finished crocheting a large rectangle that will soon become a pumpkin shape. I also mentioned that I planned on embroidering a design on the pumpkin to make it look hand-woven. The embroidery is what I will be featuring in this post.

Here is a closeup of the embroidery design:

The embroider design weaves up and down, and left and right in nearly 10,000 stitches!

The embroidery involved weaving the needle into just about every stitch horizontally and vertically. Since my pumpkin is so plump, that was embroidering in around 9,800 stitches! This was a true test of patience and endurance for me, but the thought of how happy my sister would be when she received the pumpkin kept me going.

It took a long time to embroider all those stitches but it was definitely worth it!

Apart from serving as an artistic touch, the embroidery served another very important purpose. If you read my Halloween Pumpkin Update 1 post you should know that the pumpkin started as a completely flat square. In order to turn the square into a tube I had to sew the left and right sides together. Problem was that this created a super obvious seam. The embroidery however, covered up that nasty seam completely! There is no sign of a seam anywhere and the pumpkin is starting to take on the familiar handwoven harvest feel!!!

The embroidery is finished and the pumpkin has that familiar handwoven harvest feel!

Since the next step will be a lot quicker to complete, you can look forward to an update on the pumpkin this coming Wednesday!
