Recently, the Nintendo company released a new Kirby game called Kirby Star Allies. This new Kirby game brought back many classic characters from the older Kirby games.

One such character that they included in Star Allies was a blue blob known as Gooey. My brother has many fond memories of playing this character in an older Kirby game. So naturally, he was very happy when he could once again play as his favorite blue blob in the new Star Allies game!

With many new Gooey memories forming from the Star Allies game and my brother’s birthday just around the corner, I knew that I had to crochet him a Gooey. So I got to work with making a Gooey, writing the pattern as I went along, and gave him the completed Gooey for his birthday. He loved it and it now sits on his display shelf in his bedroom watching over him as he sleeps.

The Gooey I made for my brother

A side note is that in the Star Allies game four people can play as Gooey. The game has different colors for each Gooey in order to tell them apart. Even though a royal blue Gooey is the most recognized color (as that is his color in Dreamland 3), he also comes in other colors!

Apart from royal blue, Gooey can also come in yellow (pictured above), sky blue, or green!

As a bit of a kick-starter to this blog I am sharing the pattern with you so you can create your own Gooey for a Kirby fan or for yourself. The pattern is relatively simple and I took many pictures to help guide you along the way. I am sharing it as a pdf so it can easily be printed and taken anywhere.

Below is the downloadable pdf. You can save it to your device by hitting the gray download button. Alternatively, if you only want to print it, you can view the pdf in your browser by clicking on the hot pink “Crochet-Gooey-LLC” text (this second option will not automatically save the file to your device).

Below is a preview of what the pattern looks like.

An overview of how detailed the pattern is

This is the first pattern I have posted for the public so if anything is unclear ask in the comments and I can clarify. Hope you enjoy making this goofy Kirby character!
